i also grew up with christian relatives -- and love celebrating holidays with yours, mar, those adorable twins with mouthful names ;) -- and we "helped" granny and grampa celebrate christmas. that said, i never remember being confused about my own identity as a kid or participating in the celebration. we simply believed in different things but came together to celebrate each other -- no need for a baby in a manger or a long-lit lamp to mar the day. not that we didn't understand the stories or the meanings behind the holidays -- just that the most important part has always been in how we treat other people and bringing joy to those around us.
if that's what 'merry christmas' means to a jew, i think it's a pretty good day. <3
I love that he's not only interested in what he can share, but in what he can glean from others as well. There aren't many performers today who show that like D'Or.
