Natan Sharansky serves as a symbol of man's yearning for freedom. Sharansky was a prominent Soviet dissident fighting for human rights and is famed for his resistance in the Gulag. Upon release from his 10 year stay in prison, Natan immigrated to Israel and continued his advocacy through membership in government. He has served in several ministerial positions as well as in the post of Deputy Prime Minister and is currently Minister of Jerusalem Affairs.
