Joel Stanley is not your typical 30-yr-old British Jew. After graduating from Oxford University in England, Joel had difficulty deciding which career path to take: to be an actor or a rabbi. Ultimately he decided to combine his love for theatre and Judaism to create his own career. As a result Joel went back to school to receive his Masters in Applied Drama with the ambition to start his own Jewish Theatre Company.

Joel Stanley - Paideia

 As part of the Paideia Project Incubator 2009 in Sweden, Joel Stanley is building a Jewish Theatre company in Britain.  Joel's vision is for theatre productions to be a gateway for Jewish community members to become involved in their community and better atuned to the environment.  His project's platform uses a selection of rabbincal texts as a starting point for a number of plays, allowing actors to interpret and come alive through the texts.
