A cartoonist who wants to "make the world a happier place one cartoon at a time," Chari Pere graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2007. Featured in the NY Jewish Week's "36 under 36", Chari drew most of her inspiration from "Calvin and Hobbes," but also from her own family, especially her father, who she calls "a comic genius."

How would you make old Jewish humor relevant and new? Make it into a comic book. But as we see here, we're not dealing with the work of your ordinary graphic artist. In addition to the Borscht Belt schtick is a keen awareness of issues that can be related to on a universal level.
