Uri Brilliant speaks to LEADJEF attendees about his project Sinai.co.il.

Based an old idea of Rav Shapira who wanted every Jew in the world to learn the same thing, and a minimum of learning that you must remember -- this moral idea is to have a shiur or lesson wherever you are.

Uri and his team then designed shiurs especially for the internet taking the following points into consideration:

1. speed
2. interactiveness
3. visuals

Over the next week we will be publishing a number of lectures from Leadel's first Digital Jewish Education Forum (LEADJEF) that took place last February. Following in the footsteps and ground work that was laid in February, our mission and goals for LEADJEF events are two-fold:

1. To bridge & connect Jewish Educators with Technology Professionals while encouraging collaboration and creativity.

2. To expose cutting-edge new media projects in the realms of Jewish Education and Technology via spotlight approach and physical forum setting.

In the last few days I found myself having real fun taking part in the making of our Purim Video, my job was to reconstruct how King Ahasuerus would look today, sounds hard/rigorous/too much? Well your wrong. It’s actually doing three things I like: thinking, filling in the gaps with my imagination and creating. It was so much fun, I had to post about it and share what I think was one of my most educational Purim experiences yet!

The first of its kind in Israel, last Thursday, February 10, 2011 marked the first Digital Jewish Education Forum (LEADJEF) established and convened by Leadel.NET at the Heseg House in Tel Aviv, Israel. 

LEADJEF was born from the idea that there needs to be a strong link between Jewish educators and the digital technological world.

Digitally connecting Jewish students in Israel to Peru

A special connection between the 9th grade students at Lima's Leon Pinello school and their peers at Makif HaKirya School in Ashdod, Israel reached another exciting milestone.

The connection, which is run as part of Melitz's Israel Connect program was initiated in 2008 by Eli Zer, a teacher from the Ashdod school, who was an emissary of the Jewish Agency in Lima before returning to Israel.

Traditionally, when we think of ‘Jewish music’ it is common to think of a chazzan or cantor singing liturgical prayers at Synagogue or Shul.  Or, perhaps you think of klezer music, or popular Jewish singers in America and rock bands like Debbie Friedman, Rich Recht, Dan Nichols, etc.

It's not always easy to find engaging materials for Jewish education and programming.  I remember when I used to work long and hard, after hours - that's before, during, and after hours - to find exciting content to share with all those 'less-than-interested' pupils at Hebrew School.  Be discouraged no more, or at least, now we have some solutions to help aid all you educator types in expanding your materials and curriculum.
