Throughout the ages Jewish communities were the victims of hatred and persecution. Never before, however, was an organized extermination pogroms on the scale of the Nazi Holocaust. The immensity of this tragic event is such that the pain is still being felt, more than sixty years after the event.
Important lesson at 03:05 of Rabbi Lau's video: Every Jew, wherever he lives, is a Holocaust survivor.
In last night's Erev Yom HaShoah Ceremony at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, a woman survivor spoke these words, "Every day we are alive is a holiday." May we remember that. Remember those who lost their lives, their families. But may we never forget that also life continues and blossoms.
Hence, Leadel presents the following pieces B'Kavod on this Yom HaShoah:
Rabbi Israel Meir Lau --> Past Chief Rabbi of Israel and incredible orator, Rabbi Lau tells his story to the camera from the comfort of his personal office. As life continues to blossom, the emotion never dies.
Lena Einhorn --> Scientist gone filmmaker, Einhorn produced "Nina's Journey", the celebrated portrayal of her mother's plight and escape from the Holocaust. In addition, Einhorn wrote a play called “The Living Room” which discusses the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, future of Jewish life and Israel’s affect on Jews in Sweden. Lena now has her own production company that mainly produces documentaries and drama documentaries for TV -- for more info on Lena see: http://www.lenaeinhornfilm.se/
