We've been following the UN Watch blog, especially when events transpire around the Durban category. For those of you out there who are less informed, and/or more informed, the UN is scheduled to meet in UN Headquarters in New York in September 2011.  Thus, recent events have presented the following issues:

How can we work together to help Israel/Jews not wake up mid September and say "Gevalt", but rather start working on it now???

1. On Dec 24, 2010 the Durban 3 resolution was passed:
Draft resolution III
Global efforts for the total elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance and the comprehensive implementation of and follow-up to the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action

2. The Un Watch blog shows an analysis and of the resolution and list of countries that vote for, against, abstain, and absence regarding Durbal 3.

3. Concerned activists are trying to show the world that this is just another basis for terrorists to have a stand on the stage and how the Durban Conference of 2001 had so many antisemitic undertones.  HOWEVER, now, a decade later - what have we learned???

4.  Summary  as stated in UN Watch's coverage of Israel's stance on the conference:

Recent resolution adopted...“Combating racism and follow-up of the Durban Programme of Action”.

Israel is part of the international struggle against racism. The Jewish people was itself a victim of racism throughout history.

The Durban Conference of 2001, with its antisemitic undertones and displays of hatred for Israel and the Jewish World, left us with scars that will not heal quickly. As long as the meeting is defined as part of the infamous Durban process”, Israel will not participate.

Which brings us back to Point #3 - what did we learn from the last two Durban conferences?  Our concern is that come August / September 2011 there will be another platform for 'human rights' and terrorism and hatred - yes, but what did a no show do for us then?  Once again fingers will point to Israel and the Jews' AND their absence.  The U.S. will be a show by default as the meeting place will take place in their headquarters in New York.

Thus, we call out to the UN Watch, and anyone and everyone out there who cares:

How can we work together to help Israel/Jews not wake up mid September and say "Gevalt", but rather start working on it now???
