With the recent tragedies in the waters off the coast of Israel and Gaza, the media is exploding with headlines about Israel, the IDF, the flotilla, Turkey, Hamas, humanitarian issues, etc. The internet and social networks are all on top of the news - is traditional media really too slow for the media hungry public? Twitter trends are being banned. Facebook posts are constant...it's an uproar out there!
...is traditional media really too slow for the media-hungry public?
The headlines are impossible to ignore and as the facts unfold, fueled by this social media phenomenon, information continues to be pumped to the masses via online press and the blogosphere.
However, how does one decipher what is true and what is a stretch of the truth and/or merely propoganda with an agenda? Pro-Israel organizations, Jewish organizations, Humanitarian organizations - everyone has an agenda. Was this a peace demonstration on violence? With dominating news headlines reading "ocean bloodbath", "third intifada", "deadly raid", etc...what are we being programmed to think? How are we supposed to react?
